Terry Bloomfield was born in 1934, and his father and grandfather worked at Billingsgate fish market. Naturally Terry followed into the family firm, retiring in 2011. Across a period of 30 years Terry photographed the day to day life at the market.
Terry’s photos are now on show 11am to 6pm until Sunday 1st Oct 2017 at the Standpoint Gallery 45 Coronet Street in fashionable Hoxton, just east of Old Street tube in London. Terry’s proud family, friends, fellow Geezers, and many work colleagues from Billingsgate attended the opening of the show.
This exhibition is well worth a visit as Terry’s photos show a way of life that is being threatened by changing distribution methods and new technology.
