From Councillor Marc Francis:
With the coming of 2024, Our Bow readers are overdue an update on our efforts to hold Clarion Housing Group to account the quality of service it is providing to tenants here in Bow and across Tower Hamlets. Firstly, huge thanks to all those who have been in touch to add their support to the campaign petition over the past couple of months. Thanks especially to those residents who came out on a very cold November evening to explain their concerns in a meeting with our local Member of Parliament, Rushanara Ali. It was great to hear her promise to support them.
A smaller group of residents has now met with staff from the Regulator for Social Housing just before Christmas. This was a useful session, but there wasn’t even time to discuss the all the issues they have witnessed, let alone hear how the Regulator is going about its investigation whether Clarion has breached the Homes Standard and caused tenants “serious detriment”. Rightly I think, residents have requested a proper opportunity for the Regulator to get feed-back from a much wider group of Clarion tenants that is unfiltered and unvarnished by that organisation.
As local councillors, we are now working with Rushanara to try to make sure that happens. In the meantime, if you have an issue yourself, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Cllr Marc Francis, Labour, Bow East Ward.
Your local Bow Councillors hold a regular Saturday Surgery in the Bow Idea Store, E3 5EU, from 10am – 12 noon. Cllr Marc Francis, Cllr Rachel Blake and Cllr Amina Ali take it in turn to hear and act on local residents concerns.
