The British Press Photographers’ Association are holding an exhibition celebrating the best of press photography by their members.
The ASSIGNMENTS 21 exhibition contains hundreds of the best press photos taken over the last couple of years, which are accompanied with informative captions. It’s free, open everyday 11am – 6pm, but finishes on Sun 5th Sept. You’ll find it in the Bargehouse Building, South Bank, London, SE1 9PH. That’s the bashed up building in my photo here. It’s behind the Oxo Tower and the designer shops, away from the river.
There are no lifts, just the stairs, and the exhibition runs across three whole floors of the building. It’s difficult to find, and I fear it’s not getting the visitors it deserves.
These press photos are a document of the history of our time. We’ll remember the last couple of years by looking at them, and future generations will be able to see what concerned our era.
