Brighton is a favourite destination for the Bow Geezers and friends. This July it was the third in our season of five seaside coach trips:the Geezer’s Cinque Ports!
We were lucky we’d mostly all been to Brighton before in better weather, because on this trip we were battered by icy blasts that almost derailed the (miniature) Volks Electric Railway, and turned our destination at the Brighton marina into a chilly wasteland.
Undefeated, the Geezers refused to suffer their Waterloo. Heading back to the Pavilion gardens as the sun broke through, we spent a happy hour down memory lane in the ‘ABBA: One Week in Brighton’ exhibition at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, celebrating the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s Eurovision win at Brighton Dome on 6 April 1974. As expected, the Lanes offered some Quadrophenia-themed retail therapy to round out the day.
More trips are planned, get your tickets through the usual channels from Geezer in Chief Eddie.
All Geezers and friends owe thanks to our ever-helpful and cheerful driver Farouke, and to Empress Coaches.
