It’s not the winning it’s taking part that counts

It’s a phrase coined by the founder of the Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who said “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well.” The Geezers should adopt it as our motto.

Alison and Tom from Jerram Falkus have supported the Geezers over the past few years with various community and group activities, and in particular on the ‘Where’s my Boozer Gone?’ street art project on the hoarding at the Arnold Grove development.

Long time Geezers member, John Forster and Chair Eddie Snooks, were thrilled to be invited to a glitzy Construction News Specialist National Industry Awards ceremony at The Lancaster Hotel in London’s Hyde Park. We all managed to hide our slight disappointment at being so near but so far away from the glittering prize. But we did feel the project to recruit apprentices from deprived and underrepresented areas into the construction industry was a worthy winner.

We had an excellent evening and look forward to many more opportunities for us to work together again.

Thank you, Alison and Tom.
