The second coach trip of the summer was to Broadstairs and the English weather this time did not let us down. The Geezers and Bow residents enjoyed beautiful Viking Bay with temperatures in the 80s. The North Sea tempted Paul Dixey and Mandy Evans, who said it was a bit chilly!
Broadstairs has a lot of history with various streets and house names reflecting its one time resident Charles Dickens. This image shows Dennis and Ellen in front of The Dickens House museum. We didn’t find any gin houses or mouldy sausages. We didn’t pick a pocket or two but we took home some great memories of Broadstairs.
Even Scrooge would have been tempted to buy an ice cream at Morellis stunning ice cream parlour. In Broadstairs since 1932, Morellis was the first to serve over 20 flavours. Eddie went for a raspberry and mango sorbet.
Charles Dickens was not the only notable Broadstairs resident, a blue plaque to Oliver Postgate showed some of his most loved characters, The Clangers.
