Opening tomorrow the Down the Roman…from Past to Present exhibition, with an event at the Interact-Hub in the Roman Road Yard Market. Come along between 12.00 and 4.00 and meet the artists, experience a guided tour of the exhibition trail and enjoy a bowl of home-made warm soup and tea & coffee.
The exhibition looks at the work of fourteen local and visiting artists working in East London and in this case taking inspiration from Roman Road, its history and community. It is the result of a collaboration between the participating artists and a number of shop-keepers of Roman Road, with most of the works exhibited in the shops, restaurants, supermarkets and hairdressers on the road. This collaboration between artists and local businesses contribute to the creation of an exciting art trail along and around Roman Road available to the view of local residents and visitors.

And especially look out for the work of Lucy Schofield who is working with the Geezers on their Where’s My Boozer Gone? campaign, Louise Gridley who painted the Geezer’s The Last Supper, designed their The Pun calendar and is working with Geezer Ted Lewis around his life in boxing and Paul Tucker who is exhibiting his photos of Geezers’ homes at the Age UK Resource Centre in Parnell Road.
The Exhibition is a new and exciting collaboration between the art and architecture studio public works, The CASS students in residency at Roman Road InterAct Hub and the Roman Road Trust. It is jointly curated by local artist Katja Rosenberg and Art Catcher, who was responsible for curating recent exhibitions ‘A New Home’ and ‘Misbehaviour’ at the Mile End Park Art Pavillion, and ‘I dreamed I saw saint Augustine’ at St. Augustine’s Tower in Hackney.
